JHE & Partners are pleased to be working with one of our great clients based in Halifax in order to recruit an experienced Commercial Accountant. Following recent investment, this highly profitable business have ambitious plans to increase turnover and drive profitability and this role will play a key part in their strategy. Reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with the Senior Leadership team, this is a great opportunity for someone to have a real impact on company performance.
Key duties will include:
- Review product and customer profitability margins against budget and forecast, delivering reports on variance analysis
- Develop and implement periodic stock forecasting and reporting package for the business to assist in capacity planning and purchasing
- Monitoring, analysing and reporting on raw material price impacts and cost changes to ensure margins are maintained
- Lead monthly meetings on slow moving and quarantine stock to ensure issues are followed up on and resolved in a timely manner, challenging operational teams where appropriate
- Business Partner to Production and Sales teams to control costs and manage customer and product margins effectively
- Implement a product costing system to show the true margin on products, including personnel time and overheads.
- Work in partnership with Production Manager to manage internal stock-take process; produce stock-take reports, challenging and authorising any potential write-offs and disposals
- Continually assessing procedures and systems to ensure we are working efficiently and accurately. To ensure root causes are identified and addressed
- Support ERP system enhancements relating to stock control
- Margin and stock month end duties including reconciliation and review of margin and stock accounts
- Preparation of stock analysis for the Board pack and management accounts

- Ability to business partner with Production, Warehouse and Sales teams and to challenge costings
- Ability to explain financial concepts to colleagues outside of finance
- Is confident in challenging methods and a willingness to interrogate
- Has meticulous attention to detail
- Has excellent written and oral communication skills
- Is a good team player
- Ability to adapt to change and business growth
