
JHE are working with a highly respected and established business in Skipton, who are looking for a payroll administrator to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity working in an established finance team, covering all areas of payroll admin before outsourcing to their external payroll bureau. Candidates with wider accounts admin experience would be great for this role in assisting the finance team.
Reporting to the finance manager and joining an existing team of 7, the chosen candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination and oversight of the outsourced payrolls across multiple countries for the group ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely processing. The chosen candidate will take ownership of the inner working of the daily payroll working collaboratively with external payroll providers, HR and the wider finance team.
Duties include:
- Act as the internal payroll lead for all outsourced payrolls (UK, USA and Germany).
- Prepare, validate and submit payroll inputs to external payroll providers, including:
- Starters, leavers and contract changes
- Salary changes, bonuses, commissions and deductions
- Time and attendance data where applicable
- Review payroll outputs for accuracy, completeness and compliance before approval.
- Ensure payroll cut‑off dates and payment deadlines are met across all territories.
- Liaise with external providers on queries, corrections and regulatory changes.
- Maintain payroll process documentation and internal controls.
- Support payroll‑related audits and external reviews.
- Set up and maintain employee records for payroll purposes, including onboarding and offboarding.
- Support the administration of HR systems (e.g. new starter and leaver processing).
- Post payroll journals to the general ledger, ensuring correct cost allocation.
- Reconcile payroll control accounts and payroll‑related balance sheet items.
Person specification:
- Proven experience across a payroll admin / payroll coordinator role
- Experience of working with external payroll providers
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation
- Ability to manage multiple payrolls across different countries
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong excel skills
